RALLY registration for all classes requires prior approval from instructor. Classes are $80 members/$120 nonmember for eight weeks unless otherwise noted.

Beginning Rally
Target Dog and Age Range:
Those needing beginning Rally skills, 1 year and up
Goals:
To prepare dogs who have some basic obedience skills for competition in Rally Obedience novice/level 1, obedience and/or agility and to practice obedience fundamentals in a fun and exciting way.
Prerequisite skills:

1. Some degree of stationary attention
2. Some degree of moving attention
3. Walk at the handler's left side on a loose leash
4. Sit, Down, and Come on command

It is recommended that the dog and handler complete a basic obedience class which covers the above skills using positive reinforcement methods before enrolling in this class. The GLKC Basic Obedience (Beginning Clicker) and/or Pre-Novice/Canine Good Citizen classes are recommended. Other dog/handler teams will need to be evaluated before or during the first class.

Promotion requirements:
Passing score on complete Rally novice/level 1 course
Class size, duration:
Maximum 8 dog/handler teams, 8 weeks, one hour per week
Skills covered in class:
AKC Rally Novice Exercises and APDT Level 1 Exercises, including on-leash heeling, several types of turns and pivots, sit, down, stay, come, finish, spiral and others.
Equipment provided by the handler:
Collar (buckle, quick release, or martingale)
Leash (4 to 6 foot fabric or leather)
Soft bite-sized treats
Clicker

 

Continuing/Advanced Rally
Target Dog and Age Range:
Those ready for Advanced/Excellent or Level 2/3 Rally skills, 1 year and up (growth plates must have closed to perform jumps)
Goals:
To prepare dogs with Rally 1 experience for competition in Rally Obedience Novice/Level 1 through Excellent/Level 3
Prerequisite skills:
Completion of the Beginning Rally Class or equivalent

N/A
Class size, duration:
Maximum 8 dog/handler teams, 8 weeks, one hour per week
Skills covered in class:
AKC Advanced and Excellent exercises, APDT Level 2 and Level 3 exercises, plus review Novice/Level 1 exercises, transition to Off-lead Heeling, advanced stationary exercises, advanced pivots, advanced fronts, offset figure 8, jumps, stand for exam
Equipment provided by the handler:
Collar (buckle, quick release, or martingale)
Leash (4 to 6 foot fabric or leather)
Soft bite-sized treats
Clicker
Retrieve object for APDT Level 3 bonus exercise

 

Rally Drop-In Classes
Target Dog and Age Range:
Those competing in Excellent/Level 3, who have mastered all current rally exercises and have attended multiple continuing rally classes, who are no longer in need of instruction but wish to practice rally courses
Goals:
Practice courses
Prerequisite skills:
Completion of the Continuing Rally Class or equivalent
Promotion requirements:
N/A
Class size, duration:

Unlimited class size as no instruction is provided, class is 1 hour long, times are announced by email to those that let the instructor know they are interested in attending

Skills covered in class:
AKC Excellent and APDT Level 3 courses.
Equipment provided by the handler:
Collar (buckle, quick release, or martingale)
Leash (4 to 6 foot fabric or leather)
Soft bite-sized treats
Clicker
